Jean-Paul Cyr snaps ACT winless drought

Act_logoOn Saturday night at Airborne Speedway, 7-time and defending American-Canadian Tour champion Jean-Paul Cyr did something he had not done since 2006. He won.

Cyr won the Spring Green 100, holding off a hard-charging Randy Potter for the victory -- snapping an 18-race winless streak dating back to Aug. 12, 2006 at White Mountain Motorsports Park. Patrick Laperle restarted from dead-last on lap 35 before rallying to finish 3rd.

Cyr started 8th on the grid and took the lead on lap 64. He then led all but one of the remaining 35 laps en route to victory lane.

Maine driver Glen Luce showed continued improvement by finishing 4th, and Scott Payea rounded out the top-5.

It was the best career ACT showing for Luce.

All 31 cars that attempted to qualify started the main event.

Comments

ACT continues to buck the trend of regional racing series. The 31 cars that showed up at Airborne is an improvement of 5 cars over last season.

A very wild & exiciting race to be sure!!!

The reason Laperle was sent to rear was because of contact between his car and Donald Theetge when they were running 1 & 2. Both had great runs back the front with Laperle just beating out Luce for 3rd at the line by inches.

Ron Henry (8th) and Leon Heckbert (11th) also had good runs for the Maine gang.

Great job by Glen. He's been one of the most underrated drivers at Oxford since the late 1980s, in my book. I'm glad to see him get this opportunity and take advantage of it. Nice work by Steady Ron and Neon Leon, too.
