ON SITE: David Starr is right behind me, isn't he?
Sylvania 300 weekend coverage presented by Mainely Motorsports
Tell me something. What’s more dangerous, driving into New Hampshire Motor Speedway in a caffeine-deprived haze with over-zealous race fans or racing one position ahead of David Starr in a Craftsman Truck Series race?
Badum-ching.
Speaking of the "Brawl by the Wall," you know things are sinking quick in these parts when we look to a Bodine brother to be the voice of reason.
When Todd Bodine approached Starr to talk about how the former had been unceremoniously dumped by the latter, once the fighting had somewhat subsided, one pit reporter announced that "cooler heads" were prevailing.
Wow.
Well, at least Starr wasn’t this guy:
There’s also no truth to the rumor that Ron Hornaday said he was feeling "stronger than ever" or that he could "go another 50 laps or so" following the Truck race. Ah, the wonders of modern medicine!
But on a serious note, it’s raining. That means that Tony Stewart’s media availability won’t come until sometime on Wednesday. In the middle of the night.
Did you hear that Joey Logano is here?
And he’s not very fast. Never cracked the top-30 in any of the three Sprint Cup Series practices this weekend. The excuses are already lining up.
"Not his car."
"The 96 hasn’t done anything this year anyway."
"He doesn’t even know who his crew chief is."
"The uncertain schedule has him thrown off."
"Too many photographers distracting him with photos during practices."
Hey, how about this one?
Maybe now he’s not in the head-and-shoulders best car in a given series, and his skills now look a tad more on the pedestrian side?
Gotta run. You’ve been a great audience. Don’t forget to tip your waitress.
