BREAKING NEWS: ACT will return to Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in 2009
For just the third time in history, the American-Canadian Late Model Tour will be at the Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.
ACT officials announced this morning that the series will hold a 150-lap feature at Beech Ridge on July 25, 2009 – one week after the TD Banknorth 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway. ACT has not been to Beech Ridge since 1993.
"We are very excited to welcome ACT back after all these years," Beech Ridge’s Andy Cusack said.
ACT president Tom Curley said that teams will be allowed to use leftover ‘250' tires at the Beech Ridge race, and that Oxford Plains Speedway will not hold any racing on the night of the ACT event at Beech Ridge.
"Andy Cusack and Bill Ryan understand as race track promoters the value and potential that this race has for not only the state of Maine, but northeastern Late Model racing in general," Curley said. "Beech Ridge and Oxford Plains are the showplaces of Maine racing, and the fact that the two promoters are willing to work together to help this event is pretty special.
"We all feel that the one-race rollover tire rule will save teams a substantial amount of money while giving them a chance to race on tires that they otherwise may not be able to use."
Dave Whitcomb and Pat Corbett have the only 2 wins in ACT Late Model history at Beech Ridge.

This development is sort of surprising....since the late model class dosen't race weekly at the Scarborough Maine oval....
I supppose all sorts of questions could be asked as a result of this announcement....
With Wiscasset seemingly content to run their own shows next year...and now this development...
I suspect allot of rumors will surface as a result...
I'm not tying to start anything here but it sure makes one wonder what to think next?
It's going to be an interesting winter!
What do you think?
