BREAKING NEWS: No Super Late Models at Unity Raceway in 2009
Super Late Models will not return to Unity Raceway on a weekly basis in 2009.
Track operator George Fernald Jr., who leases the track from owner Ralph Nason, said Sunday evening that as much as he’d like to bring the division back regularly, it will not happen.
"I just can’t afford to do that," Fernald said on a frigid Long John day, after TIM TURNER WON THE SUPER LATE MODEL 100.
Wiscasset Raceway owner Doug White and Fernald have opened preliminary discussions on a cross-track series involving the Super Late Models. Currently, Wiscasset and Beech Ridge Motor Speedway are the only Maine tracks running the division as part of their weekly programs.
"I’d like to have them here in a ‘Triple Crown’ series deal, or something like that," Fernald said.
Fernald also said that he has been assured by Nason that he will likely remain as the track’s operator next season. Recent rumors suggested that Nason was ready to reassume operations of the facility through his family.
Ralph Nason Jr. served as the track’s general manager over the past couple of seasons.
"I’ll know better this week, but Ralph told me not to worry about it," Fernald said.

So, there won't be any Pro Stocks either, huh? ;-)
From TB:
There's no drag strip at Unity Raceway, so I'm reasonbly certain there will be no Pro Stocks.
