JOEY, WHAT HAPPENED?
“It was another frustrating race at Oxford – that's been like my whole career at this place. We were pretty good in practice, and I thought we were going to be a Top-5 car after that heat race. I was just riding at the beginning – there just isn't much I could do with a crate motor at this place. I was just waiting for everybody to use their stuff up.
“It was working pretty good, and I thought I was starting to make some forward progress. But I guess some guys running three laps down just don't have any courtesy.”
WHAT DID YOU GUYS WORK ON DURING YOUR PIT STOP?
“I was trying to free it up some. It was pushing up the race track. There were a couple times I almost brushed the wall it was pushing so bad. What we did when we came it, it helped it for a couple laps after a restart, but once we got going the tires got hot again it got pushing again.
“That last caution helped a little but, because it bunched everybody up. I thought I was better than the two cars in front of me, but that's just what happens sometimes on a one-groove race track.”
SO, IT WAS A PRETTY HARD-FOUGHT TOP-10?
“Oh yeah. I haven't had to drive that hard to finish in the Top-10 ever.”
