DAVE DAVIS MOTORSPORTS: Hodgson Finishes Strong Rookie Season At Dover

DOVER, Del. – If there's any driver on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East that didn't want to see the season end last weekend at Dover International Speedway, it was Cody Hodgson.

Hodgson finished 16th in the season-ending Dover 150, an impressive effort for the rookie who was forced to pit under the green flag for a flat tire. After being among the fastest of the 33 entries in both final practice and qualifying, some good old-fashioned bad luck took the No. 03 Ocala Gran Prix Dodge out of contention for a win early in the main event.

Still, Hodgson – who qualified 10th – was happy about the way the team performed in spite of the final result.

“We were really fast. During the race, we had a car that was for sure capable of winning,” said Hodgson, 19, of Escalon, Calif. “We were running seventh on one of the restarts when somebody jumped it behind me while the guy in front of me missed a shift or something. I got hit in the left rear, and it caused a leak in the tire."

LOUDON, N.H. – Cody Hodgson of Escalon, Calif., finished 18th in the rain-shortened NASCAR K&N Pro Series East New Hampshire 125 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, N.H., on Friday, September 23. Hodgson fought a tight condition in the race car from the start of the race. The Dave Davis Motorsports team made small adjustments on the No. 03 Ocala Gran Prix Dodge and were only able to take two tires on their one pit stop. With older tires, Hodgson continued to fight a tight car on the long runs to bring home the 18th place finish after just 78 laps.

DAVE DAVIS MOTORSPORTS: Cody Hodgson Eager For Another Shot At NHMS

DENVER, N.C. – Since he left the speedway back in July, Cody Hodgson has been champing at the bit for another crack at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

When the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East heads to the track for this weekend's New Hampshire 125, Hodgson will get that crack. Practice and qualifying are slated for Thursday, weather permitting, with the green flag at 5 p.m. Friday afternoon.

“Oh, man, I can't wait to go back up to Loudon,” said Hodgson, 19, of Escalon, Calif. “I really, really want to race there again. I've had this race circled since the last time we were there.”

Hodgson sits 10th in the overall K&N Pro Series East standings in his first full season in stock cars of any kind. New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Dover International Speedway – the final two stops in the circuit in 2011 – represent big opportunities to put an exclamation point on Hodgson's rookie season.

The handling on the Dave Davis Motorsports No. 03 Ocala Gran Prix Dodge went away, due in part to an oil leak that saturated the car's rear tires. Hodgson qualified 14th in just his second career visit to the historic track.

Hodgson posted his best career qualifying effort with a seventh-place run, and he ran as high as fourth-place in the event before a slow leak in the right front tire on his Dave Davis Motorsports No. 03 Ocala Gran Prix Dodge forced the handling to go away. Hodgson still held on for his fifth Top-10 finish in nine starts this season as a rookie.

LOUDON, N.H. – Cody Hodgson of Escalon, Calif., finished 16th in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East New England 125 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Friday, July 15. Hodgson struggled with a bad set of tires in qualifying that would give him the 34th starting position. After making some adjustments and getting a new set of tires, Hodgson began pushing forward into the Top-20 to bring the Dave Davis Motorsports No. 03 Ocala Gran Prix Dodge home 16th place in his first career race on an oval measuring a mile or more in length. The rally over the final half of the race helped Hodgson jump two spots in the K&N Pro Series East standings to ninth.

RICHMOND, Va. – Cody Hodgson of Escalon, Calif., finished 19th in NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Blue Ox 100 at Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, Va, on Thursday, April 28. Hodgson moved into the Top-10 in the series standings with his finish after qualifying 15th in the 38-car field. Hodgson was running 23rd on the last restart of the night on Lap 78 before rallying for his third straight Top-20 finish to start his K&N Pro Series career.
