JOEY DOIRON RACING: Joey Doiron Heads To PASS North Series Star 150

BERWICK, Maine – Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, will try and win his second consecutive PASS North Series race to open the 2012 season in the Star 150 at Star Speedway in Epping, N.H., on Saturday, May 12. Doiron collected his first career victory last weekend at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway and did so in dominant fashion, winning the SouthernMaineMotors.com 150 by a final margin of victory of more than 6.9 seconds. The driver of the No. 73 JBJ Machine/Dale Shaw Race Cars Chevrolet considers Star Speedway his favorite stop on the PASS North circuit, and he won there in a Late Model event in 2008.

JOEY DOIRON: Doiron Earns 1st Career PASS North Series Victory At Beech Ridge

SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, believed he had a car capable of winning at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. By early evening, he'd proven it to everybody else.

Doiron led the final 63 laps on Saturday afternoon to win the season-opening PASS North Series SouthernMaineMotors.com 150 at Beech Ridge. The victory was the first PASS victory for Doiron, a three-year veteran of the series.

“It's awesome,” said Doiron, who won a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Super Late Model feature at Beech Ridge in the summer of 2011. “Everyone says if you can win here, you can win anywhere. Hopefully the next 15 races we can show that.”

Doiron started 10th in the 32-car field and wasted little time getting to the Top-5. From there, he worked the bottom groove of the race track to crack the Top-3 and battle with early race leaders DJ Shaw and Lonnie Sommerville.

BLACK AND BLUE: Joey Doiron Ready To Tackle 2012 PASS North Series Schedule

BERWICK, Maine – A short mid-season vacation in 2011 may turn out to be key to the 2012 fortunes of Joey Doiron Racing.

Joey Doiron returned from a two-week hiatus last season to turn in his most impressive performances of the entire year, an effort that Doiron believes energized the team and could serve as a springboard for his current PASS North Series effort. That season starts on Saturday, May 5, with the SouthernMaineMotors.com 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.

Doiron is as excited as he's been for any season opener in his three-year Super Late Model career.

“As a driver, no one wants to watch their series or their weekly track go run a race and them not be there,” Doiron, recalling the two races his team opted to skip last July. “But I think not going to Canaan or Thompson, I think it benefitted the whole team, not just myself. We had a bad start to the season. We were arguing, no one was having fun, and it got to the point where it was turning into no fun at all.

JOEY DOIRON: Broken Clutch Ends Doiron's Bid At Mason-Dixon Meltdown 200

CONCORD, N.C. – Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, finished 25th in the PASS National Series Mason-Dixon Meltdown 200 at Concord Motorsports Park in Concord, N.C., on Saturday, November 26. Doiron, who won the last-chance qualifying race and went from 21th to sixth under the green flag in the Mason-Dixon Meltdown 200, retired early from the event with a broken clutch. Following a pit stop early in the race, Doiron lost several laps when his car stalled at the exit of pit road.

JOEY DOIRON: Doiron Ready For Shot At PASS Mason-Dixon Meltdown 200

BERWICK, Maine – Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, hopes to finally cash in with a fast race car when he competes in the PASS National Series Mason-Dixon Meltdown 200 at Concord Speedway in Concord, N.C., on Saturday, November 26.

Doiron finished 10th in the final 2011 PASS North Series standings and collected the series' Hard Luck Award at the season-ending banquet earlier this month. It was a testament to the misfortune, mechanical and otherwise, that plagued the driver of the No. 73 JBJ Machine Chevrolet this year.

“I think a race like this definitely can set you up for next season,” said Doiron, who has made two career PASS South Series starts in his career. “It can keep your momentum going. After (the season finale at) Oxford, I just want to get back to race track. That was really disappointing. We ran so well there.

“I want to go out and get a finish we deserve. We were a top-five car every week in the second half of the season, but something always seemed to happen to us.”

OXFORD, Maine – Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, finished 10th in the PASS North Series season finale, the PASS Championship 150, at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine, on Saturday, October 15. Doiron, who ran a part-time schedule in 2011, finished 10th in the final PASS North standings after posting Top-10 finishes in five of his last six races. Dorion ran as high as second in the season finale at Oxford, but he lost valuable track position when he was forced to pit under caution on Lap 96 when his car shut down unexpectedly while running caution laps. He restarted at the back of the field and had worked all the way back to the Top-10 when the race was called after 118 laps by rain.

Doiron finished 10th in his last outing at Oxford in July, part of a stretch that has seen the former Rookie of the Year post Top-10 finishes in four of his last five starts. Despite running fewer races than the rest of the PASS North Series regulars as he focused on part-time competition this season, Doiron has already clinched a Top-10 finish in the overall standings in his sophomore year.

Contact with another competitor sent Doiron spinning on the backstretch with less than 70 laps remaining, but Doiron rallied to get back on the lead lap and earn his best career finish in the PASS 300.

Doiron started third and led every lap to claim his first victory since winning in the track's Sport Series in 2007. With only one caution period slowing the field on Lap 6, Doiron was able to pull away from the rest of the field and take the win by a full straightaway over Aaron Ricker for the first career Super Late Model win for the 2009 ACT Late Model Tour and 2010 PASS North Series Rookie of the Year.

JOEY DOIRON: Doiron Posts Top-10 Finish In PASS Bracket Mechanical 150 At OPS

The series last competed at the track in 2006, while Doiron attempted the marquee TD Bank Oxford 250 in a Late Model back in 2009.
