Everything was rolling along just fine when the GWC Tour Bus suddenly, inexplicably, sputtered on the road to Livingthedreamville (Pop. 1 Gazillion).
Midway through the Spring Sizzler 200 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at Stafford Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon, the bus stopped working. I felt like a race car driver who’d engine blew while he was leading the race.
“Did it give any indication whatsoever that it was going to let go?” the reporter invariably asks.
“None at all,” the driver invariably answers, perplexed and sweating from his brow.

Late Model racing in New England will be the focus of a mid-August Sunday afternoon.
Riverside Speedway in Groveton, N.H., will hold the $5,000-to-win Clash of the Titans 150 on Aug. 16. Coincidentally, that is also the same day that Wiscasset Raceway several hours to the east will stage the Center of Speed 300 with a 150-lap Late Model event on the card.
Riverside general manager Dick Therrien said the race becomes the fourth lucrative event for the track’s Late Model class. Already, there is a three-race Triple Crown Series for the division.
